The Team
2012 was Fatal Error's first season. 20 kids were recruited through an email to all Centre County 4-H members just a couple months before kickoff.
The team mainly focused on the robot. Despite all being rookies, the team members took on the ambitious goal of building a mecanum drive robot--and succeeded.

A day at JCPenney
JCPenney was a major sponsor of the team for 2012. They provided the money needed to pay the competition entry fee. So one day towards the end of build season, the team took the robot to Nittany Mall and drove it around outside of JCPenney.

At Competition
At the Pittsburgh Regional competiton, all the team's hard work on the robot paid off. By the end of qualification matches, 4027 was in ninth place, and became an alliance captain when one team seeded higher up picked another higher seeded team. The alliance made the semifinals, and Fatal Error received the "Highest Seeded Rookie" Award.
